Contact policies: off-limits and ask-me-first

Make sure the agent never emails your competitors, partners, or customers by accident.

The problem

Automated outreach has one cardinal sin: emailing someone it never should have — your direct competitor, a partner mid-negotiation, or an existing customer. BacklinkGPT prevents this with per-company contact policies that the agent enforces at every step.

Policy levels

Off-limits

The agent never contacts this company. It can still analyze their backlinks for research — knowing where competitors get links is valuable — but no one at the company ever receives an email.

Ask me first

The agent may prepare outreach, but it is always pinned for your approval — even if your global setting is auto-send. Nothing goes out without your explicit yes.

Fair game

The default. The agent applies its normal quality bar and your global approval mode.

Where policies are enforced

A policy isn't a label — it's checked at three points in the pipeline:

  1. During hunts — off-limits domains are filtered out of new opportunities.
  2. Before drafting — if a policy changed after an opportunity was found, the draft step re-checks it.
  3. Before sending — the final gate. Even an already-approved email is blocked if the company became off-limits in the meantime.

This means changing a policy takes effect immediately, including for work the agent already queued.

Setting policies

Add companies from the competitors page or directly from any opportunity. When you add a competitor for research, you choose its contact policy at the same time — analysis and outreach are separate decisions.

Tip: seed your off-limits list early

Before your first hunts, spend two minutes adding direct competitors and key partners. It's the cheapest insurance you'll ever buy.

Approvals & inbox

Review outreach before it leaves, and manage every conversation in one place.

Credits & billing

What the agent spends credits on, what your plan includes, and how the trial works.
